Curettage
Curettage is a surgical procedure performed on pregnant women, in which the inner wall of the uterus is scraped using a tool called a uterine curette. The primary goal of this method is to induce abortion. This procedure is commonly performed in two ways: suction curettage and traditional curettage. In both methods, the physician first disinfects the cervix. Then, using either local anesthesia or temporary anesthesia, the patient does not feel pain. Afterward, the uterine wall is evacuated.
